SynonymsFrom Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A patient is any person who receives medical attention, care, or treatment. The person is most often ill or injured and in need of treatment by a physician or other health care professional, although one who is visiting a physician for a routine check-up may also be viewed as a patient. The word patient originally meant 'one who suffers'. This English noun comes from the Latin word patiens, the present participle of the deponent verb, patior, meaning 'I am suffering,' and akin to the Greek verb πάσχειν (= paskhein, to suffer) and its cognate noun πάθος (= pathos). GNU Free Documentation License How would I be able to find an outpatient addiction treatment program for my daughter? Q. My daughter doesn't want to spend her time in rehab. I was wondering how I could find an outpatient treatment program for her. She's an alcoholic, and she wants to get her life back and not be dependent upon alcohol. Ask a healthcare provider or a doctor to assess her situation in order for you to know if an outpatient treatment program would be right for her. You can check the yellow pages to find contact information regarding these programs. Ask your doctor for help in choosing which kind of program would be right for yoru daughter. Then, have your daughter select a program that she feels comfortable with.A group of people that has the same background would be good for her as she won't be feeling so alone. Good luck! I hope she gets better soon. Answered by ashleigh h - Thu May 31 04:44:04 2007 Is an intensive outpatient program eligible for short term disability? Q. I am in an IOP program. Its Mon-Sat from 9:00am - 3:00 pm. Its considered hospitalization but outpatient. My question is I am not able to work for a 3-4 week period. Does this qualify for short term disablity as long as it is signed off by a doctor/physician? Thank you :) Asked by Trasformation - Sat May 3 20:39:29 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Short Term disability will cover this as long as your doctor signs off saying that you are unable to work during treatment period and if needed the recovery period. My husband just had 12 weeks short term disability with 5 days in hospital and 2 weeks home. He did that 4 times and the he was covered for all 12 weeks. We were able to go and see him before he come out of whatever they gave him to sleep. You won't have to wait long. It's not a bad test at all. I myself have had it done a couple of times and have to have it done again. Don't worry, eveything will be alright with your husband "you'll see" I will be praying for him. I pray that everything comes out alright. After tomorrow, get back on yahoo answers and let us know how it went.
